Product Feasibility

Stress-test ideas early, so only the strongest reach development.

BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Proving the concept.

A good idea and a viable product aren’t the same thing. So, before you commit any budget to development, we test whether every idea will hold up technically, commercially and in the hands of the people who’ll use it.

We look at manufacturability, cost and the regulatory landscape alongside the problem the product needs to solve. Ideas that look promising on paper often reveal weaknesses once real constraints are applied, whether that’s a mechanism that won’t scale, a material that fails compliance or a feature nobody asked for. Our feasibility work surfaces these issues while they’re still easy to fix.

The result is a product brief backed by evidence, with all the risks clearly identified and a route through them already mapped out.

Building confidence

Testing for real-world use

Every product will eventually meet users who ignore the instructions, environments the datasheet didn’t anticipate, and daily use that goes well beyond what was tested. We build those realities into our feasibility work from the start.

Early prototypes and structured trials show how a concept will hold up under genuine use, not just intended use. We push products past their expected limits, deliberately, so any points of failure show up in testing rather than in the field. This gives an accurate picture of where a product is ready and where the design needs to develop further.

A product that’s technically sound but too costly to manufacture isn’t feasible. Neither is one that solves the problem elegantly but can’t survive daily use. We deliver evidence-backed recommendations to address these issues, well before any manufacturing decisions get locked in.

Work with us

Why SDW?

A product only succeeds if it can be built at the right cost, sold at the right price, and supported profitably after launch. We test every design decision against that commercial reality, alongside its technical merit.

We look past the immediate brief to the decision behind it, and challenge assumptions when the evidence points elsewhere. Checking feasibility early ensures the strategy never outruns what can realistically be achieved.

The most obvious solution isn’t always the right one. We bring lateral thinking and structured experimentation to problems with no obvious precedent, testing unconventional approaches against real constraints before committing.

Our mechanical, electronic and software engineers work alongside industrial designers and UX specialists on the same programme. It means problems get solved once, from every angle, rather than passed between teams and revisited later.

Every recommendation is backed by calculations, testing or precedent. We apply engineering standards and structured verification at each stage, so decisions can be defended to a regulator, a manufacturing partner or a board.
We adapt scope and method as a project evolves, without adding delay. We can work alongside your in-house team or take on a project in full, in whatever format suits you.
